In the scope of “Addressing of Invasive Alien Species Threats in Terrestrial Areas and Inland Waters in Turkey Project” (TERIAS) funded under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II) between Republic of Turkey and European Union, and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, 2nd Workshop on Development of the National Strategy and Action Plan (NSAP) for Invasive Alien Species (IAS) was held between 25-27 May 2022 in Ankara.
Approximately 30 participants from relevant institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, representatives of UNDP, officials from stakeholder and relevant institutions, academicians and project experts participated in the workshop.
Within the scope of the workshop, information was given by the project experts about the National Strategy and Action Plan on Invasive Alien Species (IAS) and its content, and what should be taken into account while preparing the NSAPon IAS’s was discussed. The purpose, scope/role, principles/approach, geographical scope, time frame requirements of the Strategy and Action Plan, joint studies between MARIAS-TERIAS Projects, EU’s Biodiversity Policies in the Context of the European Green Consensus were analyzed. After the first workshop was held between 22 and 24 March 2022, the plan developed by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Uludağ was shared and discussed with the participants.
